Introduction to WISE Admissions Playbook™ Overview of Process and Milestones
Overview of Process and Milestones
The athletic recruiting process is a complex journey that requires careful planning, strategic communication, and a deep understanding of NCAA rules. Our W.I.S.E. Method of Educational Planning® helps navigate challenges while emphasizing your unique story.
The McMillan Education WISE Athletic Recruiting Process is structured here in six milestones: 1. Pre-Recruiting Foundations; 2. Academic and Athletic Assessment; 3. Digital Presence, Resume, and Highlight Video; 4. Coach Communication and Outreach; 5. Rules, Eligibility, Application Strategy and College Fit; and 6. Evaluation, Visits, Decision, and Commitment.
Milestone 1 is about developing INTENTION, building strong student-athlete habits and setting the academic foundation for a successful path to college and college athletics.
Milestone 2 is about ASSESSMENT, creating an honest academic and athletic profile, and connecting it to realistic levels of college play. Additionally, if you are considering a RECLASSIFICATION as a student-athlete, information is provided in this section.
Milestones 3 and 4 cover ENGAGEMENT, where you shape a professional digital presence and then launch structured communication and outreach to coaches.
Milestone 5 is about EVALUATION, refining your list around rules, eligibility, and true academic, athletic, financial, and social fit.
Finally, Milestone 6 is all about COMMITMENT, comparing real options, competing visits and conversations, making a final decision, and planning your transition to being a college student-athlete.
